Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)

Description

*** This Course is a MANDATORY REQUIREMENT to retain and renew the SIA Door Supervisor Licence after 01 April 2025 ***

As of 01 October 2024, the Door Supervisor "Top-Up" Course course has started to be withdrawn, with the "Refresher" Course now taking it's place.

These additional training requirements have been set out by the SIA, including the continuation of the compulsory Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Qualification, which MUST be achieved prior to the commencement of any security training.

This 1.5 Day Refresher Course has been implemented to align existing SIA Door Supervisor Licence holders with the updated modules of training.

DURATION

The course is run "blended", with 9-10 Hours of E-Learning (Home Self-Study) and 1.5 Days of Face-to-Face Classroom Sessions

MODULES

Unit 1: Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)

• Know how to conduct effective search procedures
• Understand how to keep vulnerable people safe
• Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
• Know how to safeguard the public from incidents of spiking

Unit 2: Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)

• Know the implications of physical interventions and their use
• Know the risks associated with using physical intervention
• Know how to reduce the risks associated with physical intervention
• Be able to proficiently and safely use physical skills to protect yourself and others
• Be able to use non-pain compliant standing, holding and escorting techniques safely

• 2 x Multiple Choice Exams
• 1 x Scenario Assessment
• 1 x Physical Intervention Assessment

Prerequisites

As of April 2021, you MUST hold at least a Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Qualification (or equivalent) that has been Verified & Accredited, which must be achieved prior to the commencement of any security training and have at least 12 months remaining until expiry.
