Description
The Level 2 Award for Security Officers Course allows you to work in roles across the Security Industry, including Retail Security, Static Site Security, Corporate Security and Event Security. The Award for Security Officers Course is designed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to give people a complete overview of the Private Security Industry.
With many diverse roles you need a course that gives you the best preparation for job searching which is why The Level 2 Award for Security Officers Course is perfect. It's wide curriculum covering everything from Law & legislation to Conflict Management will mean that you are best prepared to work in this exciting industry.
This Course is a MANDATORY REQUIREMENT to obtain the SIA Security Officer Licence.
As of April 2021, this course has increased to 3.5 days to include the additional training requirements set out by the SIA. You must also have a valid First Aid qualification equal or higher than the Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Qualification, which can be booked here.
This MUST be achieved prior to the commencement of any security training.
DURATION
The course is run "blended", with 9-10 Hours of E-Learning (Home Self-Study) and 3.5 Days of Face-to-Face Classroom Sessions

Unit 1: Principles of Working within the Private Security Industry

- Fire Safety awareness
- Emergency procedures
- Communication Skills and Customer Care
Unit 2: Principles Of Working As A Security Officer In The Private Security Industry
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of security officers
- Understand the control of access and egress
- Know the different types of electronic and physical protection systems in the security environment
- Know how to minimise risk to personal safety at work
- Understand drug-misuse legislation, issues and procedures relevant to the role of a security officer
- Know how to conduct effective search procedures
- Understand how to patrol designated areas safely
Unit 3: Application of Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry
- Avoiding Conflict and reducing personal risk
- Defusing Conflicts
- Resolving and learning from Conflicts
- Application of Communication Skills and Conflict Management for Door Supervisors

Prerequisites
As of April 2021, you MUST hold a Verified & Accredited Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Qualification (or equivalent), which must be achieved prior to the commencement of any security training and have at least 12 months remaining until expiry.
