Description
This course is suitable for people aged 14+ who might need to provide first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work. It is ideal for organisations whose first aid needs assessment has identified a requirement for someone to hold a current Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. It gives learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and first aid emergencies they could encounter in the workplace. This one-day qualification meets the requirements of both the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982
The course is made up of our "blended" learning package, consisting of 1-2 Hours of E- Learning (Home Self-Study) and a 4 Hour Face-to-Face Classroom Session, that runs from 09:00 until 13:00.
Delivered in both an online and classroom setting, this course offers a hybrid theory, practical and hands-on approach that delivers the skills and confidence to use first aid skills in a real-life situation. For added reassurance, each learner is assessed throughout the course using a range of practical demonstrations, question and answer sessions, quizzes and engaging activities designed to coach and support them.
Learners must be physically capable of completing the practical assessment , which requires learners perform CPR effectively and continuously for at least 2 minutes to be considered competent. This must include combining rescue breaths with chest compressions at the current recommended ratio.
Each learner receives a complimentary Training Pack including a host of resources to help them practice the skills covered. The pack includes a course companion workbook, bandages and more.
On successful completion of this course, you will receive the Highfield Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) certificate which is valid for 3 years. This course meets the requirements specified by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
DURATION
The course is run as "Blended Learning", with 1-2 Hours of Pre-Course E-Learning (Home Self-Study) and a 4 Hour Face-to-Face Classroom Session, 09:00 until 13:00.
MODULES
The qualification covers knowledge such as:
- Roles and responsibilities of the first aider
- Accident recording and reporting
- Assessing a casualty
- Monitoring a casualty
- Where to get help
- Unconscious casualty (breathing & non-breathing)
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Dealing with minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock

1 Online Assessment, 1 Multiple Choice Paper Exam and 1 Practical Assessment
